There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking the initiative and asking for a raise if you feel you deserve it. Make sure you're prepared by making a good case for it and researching what your position should be paying in the current market.
Trust me, if you wait to see if your employer will offer the raise, you could be waiting a long time.
