What did you think of the TLC show "Extreme Couponing"?

I feel like not everyone can achieve those kinds of savings, 91% off? And I don't have 5 hours to scope the grocery store and another 5 hours of searching and matching up coupons and sales to get these deals, nor do I live in an area where stores double or even triple coupons.

I would like to know where they get their coupons. I dont get ones for meat, milk....we don't have stores that double or triple coupons.

But, my record is I saved $48 off of a almost $70 bill at CVS. I bought some food items on it, as they had them on sale for the coupon price.

I'd like to see on in the KC or St Joseph area so I could note what stores they are using.

Also, if they are buying them, are they taking into account the amount of money they are paying for the papers to get the coupons???

That's good savings from CVS. I don't think there are coupons for meat or milk (unless organic).

I agree that they're not taking into account the cost of papers or coupon clipping service. The savings are a little exaggerated.

Did not see it, but local news had a segment about a woman in my city who was supposed to be on the show, I think on the first segment. On news she said she will go to any town for her deals. I wondered where she might be going if she gets those double coupon deals. As far as I know it has been many years since any store in this metro area has done that.

I read somewhere last night that, merely for the purposes of publicity, some stores went ahead and doubled coupons on the show when that is not their normal policy. If so, they will have to face hordes of shoppers insisting that the store do the same for them. Wink

We didn't see it, but I agree - we don't get the same kind of deals and coupons.

Don't get the doubling or tripling around here either. I did however get a Catalina coupon for a gallon of milk (any type) by buying 3 boxes of Pop Tarts, which I then used the second time I went. Going multiple times and working out the strategy seems to be a hobby that I'm just not willing to pursue.

Not to mention the fuel you burn by going back again....

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I'm going to work on a blog post about this.
