Free Nursing Cover for Nursing Moms

December 4th, 2010 at 09:06 am

Udder Cover, the maker of nursing covers, is offering free nursing covers! The catch? Only pay for $9.95 shipping and handling. This is a deal since nursing covers generally cost between $25 - $30.

What is a nursing cover? It's a piece of fabric, much like an apron, that provides privacy for mothers nursing their babies.

I just ordered my free nursing cover and was able to use PayPal to pay, since I have some funds in there.

They are connected to Seven Slings, cloth baby carriers, who had a similar free deal. Also, Udder Cover is accredited by the Better Business Bureau.

Ideas about nursing certainly vary a lot. If the mother feels that she wants to hide what is going on, wouldn't she use something more mundane, something looking less like a fashionable shopping bag? I think that cover would only draw more attention. I think a shirt or blouse already being worn is sufficient.

I never felt I had any chance of being inconspicuous the few times I had to feed in public. I only nursed in public when I absolutely couldn't get home or to another private place. I wanted to cover up first for myself, and second for anyone out there who might feel a tad uncomfortable with a stranger's breast being partially exposed. So it wasn't about people not noticing I was nursing, but wanting my skin to be out of sight. The cover is handy because it's got a strap that goes around your neck and keeps the blanket from slipping down. Mine also had a rigid piece of plastic or metal at the top that curved outward and gave me a gap I could glance down into to make sure she was properly latched.

Thanks, ceejay74. Moms also use nursing covers at home, when they have to breastfeed around family and friends.

I wish they had those a few years ago. I've seen them around and really like them. (An apron would do - kind of what they are like - I just wasn't that smart to figure it out on my own before I saw these around the past couple of years.)

Maybe not everyone would like one, but I certainly would use it.
